The Delicious Hours

· Mangomichi Sound· 2 min read

Twenty-one tracks for the stretch between sunset and clarity. Warm low end, wide reverb, nothing that asks too much of you. Built for the walk home and the hour after it.

There is a window every day — roughly between the moment the light goes orange and the moment you finally sit down — where you are neither working nor resting. We call it the delicious hours. This is the music for it.

The rules of the playlist

Twenty-one tracks, one for each steering element. That constraint is not decoration; it forced out everything that was merely good.

  • Warm low end. Nothing thin, nothing brittle. The bass should feel like the room is holding you.
  • Wide reverb. Space to think inside. If a track is too busy to leave a gap, it is not on here.
  • Nothing that demands. No track that requires your full attention. This is music to move alongside, not music to be interrogated by.

How it is sequenced

The playlist follows the three pillars.

Having — tracks 1 to 7

Roots. Warm, familiar, unhurried. This is the part of the evening where you put things down.

Being — tracks 8 to 14

Presence. The tempo does not rise, but the clarity does. Somewhere around track 11 the noise in your head goes quiet.

Doing — tracks 15 to 21

Direction. This is where the low end firms up and something in you decides what tomorrow looks like.

How to use it

Put it on for the walk home. Do not shuffle it — the order is the point. And leave your phone in your pocket: the phone shows you a small world, the walk shows you the great one.

Track listing and streaming links arrive with the release on 11 August.
